Dr. Robert Miller


Cancer Doctor Robert MillerDoctor Robert Miller received his undergraduate degree, cum laude from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio.He graduated from medical school at Ohio State University, where he was also cum laude and a member of AOA (honorary medical society).

He then completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of San Francisco (UCSF) and is board certified in internal medicine.

He then trained in radiation oncology at both UCSF and Stanford. He was chief resident at UCSF and also trained in the heavy particle program at UC Berkeley. He is board certified in radiation oncology.

He has practiced radiation oncology in Saint Petersburg, Florida since 1979, where he served as chairman of the department of radiation oncology at both Bayfront Medical Center and St. Anthony’s Hospital in St Petersburg.

Dr. Miller introduced many of the new innovations in radiation oncology to the community including brachytherapy, HDR, 3D conformal therapy and IMRT. He was instrumental in establishing the first radiosurgery program in Tampa Bay with the Gamma Knife center at Bayfront in 2002. He was involved in bringing the first Tomotherapy unit to Pinellas County and the first Cyberknife program in Central Florida, both in 2008.

Dr. Miller has been long involved in medical ethics and hospice, and was a founding member and first national president of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He has been a pioneer in medical informatics and developed one of the largest medical-cancer websites, AboutCancer.com.
