Head and Neck (Throat) Cancer

Throat cancerA large number of cancers occur in the mouth or throat area. Most of these cancers arise from the lining of the mouth or throat and are squamous cancers.

For some sites or locations (e.g., thyroid, lip, oral tongue) surgery may be the preferred treatment, while others areas (base of tongue, nasopharynx, hypopharynx) are best treated with radiation plus chemotherapy.

All procedures in this area of the body require close cooperation between the surgeon, radiotherapist and medical oncologist. WellSpring’s experienced staff will coordinate this treatment and answer any of your questions.

Cancer of the vocal cords, voice box (larynx), or other areas of the throat can be treated at WellSpring. Using the Varian machine with both IMRT and IGRT techniques and then Tomotherapy (ART), it has become possible to improve throat cancer cure rates and lower side effects more than ever before at WellSpring Oncology.

Contact the throat cancer experts at WellSpring if you have questions about cancer risk, cancer prevention or cancer screening.
