Brain Cancer.

Brain tumorBrain tumors have increased in incidence over recent years. These tumors include those that develop in the brain, known as primary brain tumors. These include benign tumors (meningiomas, pituitary tumors, acoustic neuroma) and malignant brain tumors (gliomas, e.g., astrocyoma or glioblastoma). More common are cancers that develop elsewhere in the body and then spread to the brain. These are called brain metastases and most commonly arise in patients with cancer of the lung, breast or melanoma. Newer radiation technologies (e.g., CyberKnife) have increased the role of radiation in treating these patients.
